What you can expect
The Island Discovery Tour is a half-day kayaking adventure that brings the Bay of Islands to life. Begin with a scenic 40-minute ferry ride to the stunning Otehei Bay before paddling off with expert guides through coastal waters teeming with life. Navigate secret bays, remote beaches, and white-sand shorelines while immersing yourself in the sights and sounds of Aotearoa. Highlights include possible stingray sightings, birdwatching, snorkeling, and a visit to local conservation areas. There’s time to explore the island at your own pace and unwind with panoramic views before the ferry home. This tour blends soft adventure with deep connection to nature.

- Return ferry (Morning or Afternoon Tour options only)
- 2–2.5 hour guided kayak tour with snorkel time
- Kayak, spray deck, paddle, life vest, dry bag
- Snorkeling gear (mask, snorkel, fins)

- Island exploration time (Morning & Afternoon Tours only)
- Children under 10 years
- Tour Only option excludes ferry transfers and island exploration time

- Half-day experience (approx. 5–6 hours including ferry)
- Kayak segment: 2–2.5 hours
- Morning Tour:
- Ferry departs Paihia at 8:30am / Russell at 8:40am
- Kayak Tour: 10:00am–12:30pm
- Return ferry options: 1:45pm, 4:15pm, or 5:45pm Afternoon Tour:
- Ferry departs Paihia at 11:30am / Russell at 11:40am
- Kayak Tour: 1:30pm–4:00pm
- Return ferry: 5:45pm Tour Only:
- No ferry included; guests must self-arrange transport
- Choice of kayak tour at 10:00am or 1:30pm
- Swimwear or activewear
- Warm jacket, towel
- Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses
- Mobile phone, drinking water
- Snorkeling gear provided
- Hot showers available post-tour
- Stingray sightings are possible but not guaranteed

- Safety instructions and equipment provided

- Changes are not permitted within 7 days of your experience
- Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience
