Great experience all round. Horses were calm and looked well cared for.
Horses looked well-cared for and were calm - great for beginner riders. Staff were friendly and organised. No time was wasted standing around. Staff took photos and shared them with us at the end of the experience. We were lucky to see a pod of dolphins surfing while we rode down the beach. Great experience.

My daughter and I loved the horse beach ride. The horses were so beautiful and gentle, my daughter had never ridden before but we both felt so secure in the hands of these horse-loving people. The walk along the beach was so picturesque and we walked away feeling so glad we did it.
What you can expect
Let the kids get a taste of horse riding with one of these fun-filled pony rides in Byron Bay that are available for children as young as 2 years of age! Parents are welcome to participate to help calm their younger kids' nerves and help them get acclimated to being on horseback as they are lead around at a calm yet enjoyable pace - the little ones are sure to come away with the horse as their new best friend.
There are two options available; the 1.5 hour Kids Saddle Club that runs every Saturday and divides kids into beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, or the 30 minute lesson with a handler for small children. What you need to know
- KIDS SADDLE CLUB currently unavailable
- A group class which runs for 1hour 30 minutes on Saturdays. Groups are divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced.
- Bookings are necessary.
- Kids learn about horse management, how to groom, saddle, bridle, and other tips from experienced and passionate instructos. Kids Saddle Club also teaches riders skills in riding techniques, basic dressage and eventually jumping.
- Ramona is a grade 1 general coach, accredited by the Equestrian Federation of Australia. PONY RIDES
- With a handler for 30 mins. Pony rides are available for small children. We cater for children as young as 2 years of age.
- 946 Friday Hut Road, Bangalow, NSW
- Equestrian Centre nestled in the hills of Bangalow, just 15 minutes west of Byron Bay.
- Make your way to Bangalow.
- Follow road to Lismore (approximately 10 mins by car).
- Turn left into Friday Hut Rd (2nd driveway on right).
- You will need long pants and boots on all rides and don't forget your boardies and towel if you are horse surfing. All rides are fully supervised.
- We cater for all standards of riders – beginners, nervous adults and children are our specialty
- Maximum weight limit 110kg
- For individual bookings and groups of up to 4 persons, cancellations are allowed at least 48 hours before ride departure time.
- Cancellations within 48 hours of the ride will incur the full cost of the booking.
- Groups of 5 or more require 5 days' notice of the ride departure date.
- Group booking cancellation with less than 5 days notice, but more than 48 hours notice will incur a fee of 50% of the total cost of the booking.
- Cancellations within 48 hours of departure will incur the full cost for the booking.
- Confirmation in the form of a tour voucher will be received at time of booking
- Upon completion of purchase, please print the voucher and present on day of the experience.

I booked a 1.5 hr beach ride, which costed a lot more than just an inland ride. On the day, I woke up to a 7am text saying that they cannot do beach ride today, could only do inland ride due to transport issue. I already planned and booked a 1 year anniversary for 3 days 2 nights stay at Byron Bay, and my partner really wanted to ride a horse bad, so I went ahead with the ride inland ride. I did try and ask for partial refund but got nothing out of it. The guide and her daughter were lovely, but the inland trail ride only last 1 hour, not 1.5hr. Overall, I felt really misled. Booked for a 1.5 hr beach ride, turned into a 1 hr inland ride. I felt I truly overpaid for my experience. I specifically chose Byron Bay for our trip purely because it was one of the only places that offered beach rides. Overall my experience was not the best. Did not get my value for money.
