Jump aboard The Cockle Train, an authentic steam train, to travel through the picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula region on Australia's oldest steel railed railway. Built in 1887, the track is still in use today and with a ride on The Cockle Train you can experience this exciting adventure while also exploring the beauty of the surrounding area. The train ride was named after early settlement days where locals would travel by horse drawn train to Goolwa to collect Cockles from the beach.
The train will depart the Goolwa Depot and travel west along the River Murray, with designated stops at Middleton, Port Elliot and the final destination, Victor Harbor. This journey will take you on an incredibly scenic adventure with an ascent to the top of coastal cliffs near Port Elliot for picturesque coastal views and the chance to see Souther Right Whales during migration season. Guests are given the option for a return trip when booking their tickets either online or at the ticket booth at Goolwa Depot.
