I’d highly recommend pippies, I always felt safe, the campsite was clean, hot showers and not a single spider in my tent if you follow their guidance. Cory was the tour guide and he was excellent, brought the humour and all the instruction we needed. Loved it!! Thank you ◡̈

He was not only super knowledgeable, but also funny, and passionate. He really made the whole experience special. I’m so happy we chose to do the tour with Pippies – it was the best decision. Our camp was amazing: everything was clean, well organised, and comfortable. I was genuinely surprised by how good the showers and toilets were (way better than expected on an island like this!). K’Gari truly feels like paradise. The beaches are stunning, the nature is breathtaking, and every day felt like an adventure. The most fun and exciting part was definitely driving the 4x4 on the sand – such an adrenaline rush and so much fun! I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone. It was an unforgettable experience that I will always remember.
What you can expect

Take the wheel on an epic beach driving trip based out of Pippies Beachhouse, with expert guides backing you every step of the way. Cruise the iconic 75 Mile Beach, tackle inland sand tracks, and build real confidence behind the wheel as you explore the world’s largest sand island.
Between drives, hit some of the island’s best spots, from the crystal clear waters of Lake McKenzie to the rainforest trails of Central Station. Float down Eli Creek, check out the Maheno shipwreck, and soak in natural wonders like the Champagne Pools and coloured sands of the Pinnacles. There’s plenty of time to swim, chill and take it all in, while your guides share local knowledge and hidden gems most travellers miss.
When the day wraps up, it’s all about good vibes back at camp. Think beachside sunsets, BBQ dinners, and nights under the stars with your Fraser crew. - Day one:
- Depart Pippies early and take the barge to K’gari
- Drive 75 Mile Beach towards Eurong
- Swim at Lake McKenzie
- Visit Central Station and Wanggoolba Creek
- Settle into camp and relax
- Optional sunset at Corrigan Sandblow
- Cook BBQ dinner and socialise by the fire
- Day two:
- Breakfast at camp before heading north
- Spot whales in season (Aug to Oct)
- Swim at Champagne Pools
- Float down Eli Creek
- Visit the Maheno shipwreck
- Stop at the Pinnacles coloured sands
- Dinner and stargazing back at camp
- Day three:
- Breakfast before the final drive
- Walk to Lake Wabby via sandblow
- Swim and relax by the lake
- Lunch on the beach
- Return to the barge via 75 Mile Beach
- Arrive back at Pippies and unwind

- Is there phone signal? Limited. Telstra works best
- Participants will receive a preparation email the day before with all details, a video, and a waiver to complete
- Participants should check in at Pippies by 5:30pm the day before, after watching the video and completing the waiver
- If participants cannot arrive the day before, they must check in 30 minutes before departure on the day
- Drivers must be 21 years and over, with a full licence held for at least 12 months (you can still join if you don’t drive)
- Start and finish times may change due to tides and weather
- Travel insurance is recommended to cover unexpected changes, including weather disruptions
- This tour is for participants aged 18 and over
- Participants under 18 must contact the experience provider for approval before booking
- BYO alcohol and soft drink permitted; no glass allowed
- Change your booking up to 14 days before the start time of your experience
- Changes are not permitted within 14 days of your experience
- Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience
- Confirmation in the form of a tour voucher will be received at time of booking

We had the best time on K’gari with Pippies, wouldn’t change a thing! The trips out were sooo good, even with heavy rain on our day at Lake Wabby it was still so much fun. I would definitely recommend driving it was such a fun experience! Kev was amazing, he was so knowledgeable about the island, couldn’t do enough for us and was making us laugh the whole time. Food was fab and they certainly catered for me being vegetarian. I would recommend Pippies and Kev to everyone it was the trip of a lifetime!
