Location

See all the wonders of the magical Great Ocean Road without fighting the crowds on this "reverse" tour that takes the standard route backwards. Starting from the far end of the Great Ocean Road, you'll get uninhibited views of the iconic 12 Apostles rock formations earlier in the day - guaranteeing you some great photo opportunities of these beautiful icons - and then continue on through the lush rainforest of the Otways National Park. Along the way, you'll have a much clearer road uncrowded with other vehicles and be able to take in other essential highlights on the route - including the Loch Ard Gorge, Apollo Bay, a coastal lookout at Mutton Bird Island and Razorback Lookout in a much more pleasant and exclusive manner.

Then, enjoy a guided walk through Maits Rest or Melba Gully, an ancient rainforest admiring some of the world’s tallest trees in the Great Otway National Park. We continue our journey along this spectacular National Heritage listed road winding between hillsides, pristine beaches, stunning ocean views and dense rainforest. Local guides will try to seek out the iconic Australian koala, as this coastal region is heavily populated with these furry creatures hidden within the pockets of Eucalyptus forests. The final stop of the day will be the Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch, one of the most photographed spots along this rugged coastline.

Take in the informative and entertaining commentary from your experienced guide along the way, and come away with a whole new appreciation for what is widely considered one of the world's most beautiful scenic drives. This full-day tour is great value for money and includes morning tea and lunch as well as all park entry fees and is ideal for those who prefer a more stress-free tour of the Great Ocean Road.

Love the tour guide. Tim is so accommodating and friendly. Would love to recommend this to our friends and family. Reverse Great Ocean Road is such a good idea, there’s not much hustle as we reach 12 Apostles. It was so beautiful and amazing. Lucky to have seen 5 koalas as well during this trip.
Great tour, awesome guide, good variety. Well worth the money.

It was a great tour and the guide was excellent! Super knowledgeable, friendly, thoughtful and just awesome; especially his sidekick Barry! Only my downfall was that my ticket clearly said pickup at 7:35 but they called me at 7 wondering where I was so I had to dash and I ended up forgetting things in my room. Would definitely recommend this tour though! We ended up having great weather which made it even better.

The reserve tour was such a good idea

The reserve tour was such a good idea! We had Troy as our tour guide and he was absolutely great! Despite the weather being windy, he calmly took us through the great ocean road drive and managed to hit all the great spots. Got to take really nice photos of the locations without the crowds. However cold sandwiches on a cold season weren't really warming for the soul, nonetheless, pretty good!

Got answers to all question from customer representative over the phone which helped me to choose between standard and reverse tour

Got answers to all question from customer representative over the phone which helped me to choose between standard and reverse tour. So finally I took the Reverse Great Ocean Road and Rainforest Tour with lunch. It was the best experience ever. Our tour guide Lewis gave us proper details for each visiting point. Lunch was okay not so great. Good that there were few vegetarian or vegan items. I think It will good to have the option to choose a food preference while booking. We got lucky that the tour guide showed us Koala and kangaroo in the wild. Overall It was a nice experience. Its must tour who visits Melbourne.

An amazing experience of nature

An amazing experience of nature. We took the reverse Great Ocean Road tour and it really helped to keep the crowd away while enjoying the nature at its best. Must do is the helicopter ride for all those who can't have long walks but still want to see the best. A drive along the longest beach-line is what you will cherish for life and if you have a tour guide like the one we had then it just adds to the experience. Must do near Melbourne.

Amazing trip with Experience Oz

Amazing trip with Experience Oz. Pickup on time, headed and spent time adequately and enjoyed a lot with natural beauty - 12 Apostles, Koalas, Birds, Sea view, War Memorial, Commentary was excellent by Dean. Overall, worth visiting the Great Ocean Road.

Absolutely a correct decision to do the "Reverse" tour

Absolutely a correct decision to do the "Reverse" tour. Heading from Melbourne via A1, we arrived at the 12 Apostles around 11 am. Visitors were of just the right amount, and the light was perfect for a good photo (if arriving in the afternoon, you will get backlighting problem.) Then we returned along the Great Ocean Road and had several stops for either sightseeing or refreshment, all good breaks for the fatiguing second half of tour.

A great value of money

A great value of money. Stunning sceneries and the reverse tour was very helpful as it avoided the usual crowds in the places of attraction. Food was also good and the tour guide was very helpful and friendly. This is something not to be missed in Melbourne.

This is definitely a tour worth doing

This is definitely a tour worth doing. The reverse order of the trip meant we missed the bulk of the crowds at all the viewing points along the way. Although the weather at the beginning of the day (when we went to the 12 apostles etc.) was pretty rubbish, the views were still breathtaking and we managed to get some great photos. This day was fully packed with things to see, such as plenty of viewing points of different rock formations, rainforest tour, a stop off at a little town with the opportunity to get ice cream from an award-winning ice cream shop (even with gluten-free cones! And vegemite ice cream!). Also a stop off at the Great Ocean Road sign and at areas where you could spot some koalas and kangaroos. Our tour guide was super informative and had many facts both about Australia in general and the areas we were visiting which made the trip even more enjoyable and interesting. The pizza you get included with the tour is superb (gluten-free options are available for those who need them) with the opportunity to eat it on the beach which was a plus for us. Overall we think the trip was excellent and very smoothly run in order to make sure we made the most of our time.

The reverse route to the Great Ocean Road avoided the crowds at all stops and a reasonable time was allowed for each stop

The reverse route to the Great Ocean Road avoided the crowds at all stops and a reasonable time was allowed for each stop. We didn't take the helicopter at the Twelve Apostles because we want to take more photos at the lookout. So it all depends on your own preference. The direction of sunlight was just perfect for taking photos in this reverse route, highly recommended if you like to snap a lot. Seeing two wild koalas high on the trees was a bonus because it is not guaranteed. Our guide was entertaining along the long drive. The pizzas at dinner were tasty too.
