What you can expect
Come along to the Sarina Sugar Shed and join the rum distillery tour to discover how it all started on a deliciously sweet adventure with a curated tasting session. Australia’s multi award winning sugar mill and distillery is open to the public and visitors will embark on an educational journey behind the series to observe the process from distillery, blending and bottling of rum based products of the Whitsunday Coast.
From crushing cane to distilled spirits that create rum and liqueur masterpieces, the Sarina Sugar Shed distillery tour is set to delight your tastebuds. Enjoy this tour on its own or add a tour of the facility for the complete experience. Don’t miss out on a visit to The Sarina Sugar Shed on your next visit to the Whitsundays.

What you need to know
- 30 minute guided experience into rum distilling techniques
- Exclusive tasting of rum and rum-based products distilled, blended and bottled at Sarina Sugar Shed
- Receive a guided explanation about the rum distilling process at Sarina Sugar Shed
- Enjoy a tasting of rum and rum-based products distilled onsite
- Combine this experience with the Sugar Cane Tour for a comprehensive rum based affair
- This experience starts at 12pm daily
- This experience is approximately 30 minutes in duration
- Only participants aged 18 and over are allowed to participate in this experience - proof of age ID may be required for people under 25, as per RSA guidelines
- All liquor licensing requirements in Queensland will be adhered to
- All Responsible Service of Alcohol requirements will be adhered to, including but not limited to proof of age and intoxication
- Bookings are highly recommended, especially during holiday periods, due to the limited availability
- The distillery experience is restricted to 10 people for participant comfort
- Closed footwear is highly recommended for participant safety. No bare feet are allowed
- The distillery experience is wheelchair accessible and suitable for all mobility assistance aids. Tour and access surfaces include paved areas and concrete and hardwood floors
- There are no steps or stairs at the venue
- There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet onsite
- Change your booking up to 24 hours before the start time of your experience
- Changes are not permitted within 24 hours of your experience
- Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience
- Confirmation in the form of a tour voucher will be received at time of booking
- Upon completion of purchase, please print the voucher and present on day of the experience
- Vouchers can also be presented on your mobile device for this attraction

We did 2 tours. A tour of the rum distillery, led by the main distiller Sarah, and the sugar cane tour led by Jess. Both tours were educational and informative. As we are from the UK it is fascinating to learn why there is sugar cane, how it’s grown, harvested, processed and what products are made. Thank you Team.
