Your adventure begins the moment you lift off on a 35-minute helicopter flight from Franz Josef. As the ground falls away, you’ll rise above icy rivers, over the Franz Josef Glacier, and either the Fox or Tasman Glacier depending on the day’s conditions. From your window seat, you’ll watch the mountains rise around you, with every turn offering new views of New Zealand’s wild alpine landscape..
Midway through the journey, the helicopter takes you across the Southern Alps, where the highlight awaits. You will touch down for a 10-minute alpine landing on a pristine peak that’s only reachable by helicopter. Step into the crisp alpine air and capture incredible photos that will stay with you forever. After plenty of time to enjoy this hidden paradise, you’ll climb back aboard for the scenic return flight, completing an itinerary that blends glaciers, rainforest, and mountains into one unforgettable alpine escape.

- Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure for check-in
- This experience departs from Glacier Country Helicopters, 10 Main Road, Franz Josef, Waiau 7886 (opposite the Police Station, look for the blue flags).

- Comfort Seats (passengers 120KG and over when weighed at check-in will be required to purchase a Comfort Seat — these are half the RRP of your flight).
- Front Seat Request (Requests must be made 24hrs in advance & are only confirmed at check in)
- The snow landing is season and weather-dependent
- Minimum of three and a maximum of six participants
- In extreme weather conditions the tour may be cancelled if safety is a concern, you will be contacted by the provider and rescheduled
- Please contact the provider if you have people wanting to watch the helicopter take off, this can often be arranged
- Change your booking up to 24 hours before the start time of your experience
- Changes are not permitted within 24 hours of your experience
- Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience
