Discover the colours of the Red Centre on a three hour sunset watercolour class at Simpsons Gap, just 18km from Alice Springs. As golden hour settles over the West MacDonnell Ranges, your guide leads you on a short walk through the sandy riverbed, sharing stories of this spiritually significant Arrernte site and pointing out river red gums, rugged rock faces and the occasional shy rock wallaby.
Set up with all your materials provided, you are gently introduced to watercolour through playful, confidence building exercises before building your skills and painting a finished piece to take home. Suitable for complete beginners and experienced painters alike, the pace is relaxed and the focus is on tuning in to the shifting light and colour around you. With pick up and drop off from your Alice Springs accommodation and light refreshments along the way, all you need to do is arrive curious. - Bring a jacket, beanie and gloves in winter
- Bring a long sleeve shirt and a hat in summer
- Comfortable closed toe shoes are required
- Bring a 1 litre bottle of water
- Basic fitness required as the experience includes a short walk of less than 500 metres through a sandy riverbed
