What you can expect
Experience a full day of cultural immersion at the Kurtonitj Indigenous Protected Area, complete with a guided walk to sacred sites, morning tea, and lunch. Begin your adventure at the Tae Rak Aquaculture Centre (Lake Condah) to explore the world’s oldest living culture.
You’ll then be transferred to the Kurtonitj Indigenous Protected Area, where you’ll discover historical stone kooyang (eel) traps, stone channels, ancient house sites, and eel smoking trees. Continue to Budj Bim National Park for a morning tea and guided walk, where you'll see Lake Surprise, lava tunnels, lush forests, and local wildlife.
Enjoy lunch at the Tae Rak Aquaculture Centre & Café, followed by an exploration of the wetlands. Spot native birdlife, marvel at extensive stone aquaculture sites, and appreciate the rich cultural heritage of the area.
