Spend the day exploring the best of Tasmania including a visit to the Port Arthur Historic Site, Carnarvon Bay and Salamanca Market encompassing the perfect balance of scenery and adventure. Your morning will be spent at Salamanca Market; one of Hobart's most popular outdoor market where you'll be given ample time to explore, have a browse and make a few purchases if you find something that catches your eye. This is a thriving market loved by locals and visitors alike and known for stalls that sell a range of unique knick knacks you'll fall in love with.

The next stop on the agenda is the Port Arthur Historic Site, which you will reach via comfortable coach. While at the site you'll be led on a guided 40-minute tour to learn about the region's convict past and its significance in Australian history. Following your guided tour, you'll be given more free time to explore the ruins yourself or simply relax at the on site restaurant and cafe. The next attraction included in this tour is a cruise on Carnarvon Bay around the 'Isle of the Dead' a cemetery that sits adjacent to Port Arthur and was the burial sites for those who died inside the Port Arthur prison. The cruise will give you a unique view of this incredibly historic sight as well as beautiful views of the surrounding area.

Overall the tour was amazing. The driver is very friendly, and punctual. He even recommended the best restaurants to visit in Hobart. He made our trip extra special by telling some stories and trivia. This tour is highly recommended. I should have stayed longer in Hobart, :)
Nice and rewarding experience. The driver had a lot of knowledge about Port Arthur 's history and we had time to walk after the tour.

Nice and rewarding experience. The driver had a lot of knowledge about Port Arthur 's history and we had time to walk after the tour. After, we took a cruise that showed us the island of Port Arthur from different angles. We also saw the island of death—there is a tour to get down on this island and see it. A must do experience!

We joined this tour on 30/6 (Saturday)

We joined this tour on 30/6 (Saturday), with our driver/tour guide Phil. Phil is a very responsible, friendly and cheerful tour guide. All the places of interest were given detail explanation by Phil, including the places we passed by on the bus. Very enjoyable and informative tour. The time allocated at each destination were sufficient. Port Arthur is indeed worth to pay a visit!

The bus driver was reliable

The bus driver was reliable. Tour time was sufficient to explore all interesting spots at the site. The cart for people having difficulty walking was also very helpful.

Very well organised tour

Very well organised tour. It was nice to not have to drive ourselves around and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We especially enjoyed the story telling during the bus drive to Port Arthur which made the journey interesting. My teenage daughter and I fell asleep on the drive back to Hobart as it was a very jam-packed day. Overall a great day shopping at Salamanca market and exploring Port Arthur.

The market is nice and the Port Arthur is gorgeous

The market is nice and the Port Arthur is gorgeous. However, the time we can stay in Port Arthur is shorter than I expected (only 3.5 hours including the introductory tour, lunch time and the cruise). It will be better if the tour starts at 0830 as the market opens at 0830 every Saturday. I think everyone can explore the whole market within 1 hour and a half so we can have more time in the Port Arthur (from 1100 to 0400).

This tour will take you all the way back to the 1800's. There is so much mystery and history included you will need to share these stories when you return home.
