A must do for any nature lover visiting Cairns!

This has been my 4th time in attendance and each time provides unique sights and sounds of the rainforest. A lot of the endemic animals being nocturnal, this is the best oppurtunity to see them, all from the convience of a few miles from the city center. Bridgette is an exceptional treat too, her extensive entomological and biological knowledge always impresses. In addition, her keen eyes allow for A LOT of variety of animals to be seen, of which my photos are a small portion. I cannot express anything except kind words for all of the tours I have been on with her and look forward for more. I will strongly recommend to bring an umbrella and bug spray as the weather and misquito levels can be quite erratic, but totally worth it if you love nature!

Phenomenal tour, the group size was small and I felt so comfortable with our guide

Bridgette leading the way. Being taught to spot all the critters was so cool, and the sheer variety of things to find was 10/10. I loved the chance to be out in nature when the heat had backed off. Would recommend to Aussies and overseas travellers alike.

What you can expect

Experience a guided night walk through the Cairns Botanic Gardens Rainforest. As the sun sets and the forest comes alive, you’ll discover an incredible variety of nocturnal wildlife rarely seen during the day. From frogs like the White-lipped tree and the Northern Stony Creek frog to net-casting spiders such as the mirror-ball or giant orb-weaver spiders, every walk is unique and full of surprises. But don’t worry, these creatures are usually tucked away on trunks and branches, minding their own business.

The rainforest is also home to many nocturnal mammals and birds. Look out for micro-bats, Papuan frogmouths, striped possums, or even an echidna shuffling through the undergrowth. Your expert host will share insights into each animal’s behaviour, habitat, and role in the ecosystem. With torches provided and small group sizes, this is the perfect adventure for photography lovers and wildlife enthusiasts, keen to experience the rainforest in a whole new light.

I really enjoyed this tour and would recommend it to anyone who loves animals, as well as to foreigners wanting to brag they've had the true Aussie spider experience.

I really enjoyed this tour and would recommend it to anyone who loves animals, as well as to foreigners wanting to brag they've had the true Aussie spider experience. Bridgette is super knowledgeable and passionate about all the amazing creatures we saw. I also hired a macro camera which I STRONGLY RECOMMEND - I felt I got some amazing shots as a first-time nature photographer. This was fun, will consider booking the Sumatra trip 😍

Hands down one of the best things I did in Cairns during my visit.

Hands down one of the best things I did in Cairns during my visit. Bridgette was incredibly knowledgeable about the wildlife in the area from the nocturnal mammals to the spiders and other invertebrates. If I had more time on my trip I would have booked two walks!

Bridget took us on a wonderful 2hr walk through the bush.

Bridget took us on a wonderful 2hr walk through the bush. She was very knowledgeable about all the different insects we saw and she answered the many many questions we had in great detail. 10/10 would go again on another tour as an insect enthusiast or a macro photography enthusiast!
