What you can expect
Enjoy a relaxed and scenic day exploring the rainforest and heritage of Kuranda, combining iconic rail and gondola experiences with free time in the village. An exclusive offering only available during Stage 1 of the Skyrail 2.0 Upgrade Project, 19 August to 25 October 2026.
Make your way to Skyrail Smithfield, where your adventure will begin, as you board a shuttle transfer towards the Skyrail. Travel one way on the Kuranda Scenic Railway, winding through lush rainforest and dramatic landscapes before arriving in Kuranda Village. Once in Kuranda, enjoy free time to explore at your own pace, browsing local markets, cafes, and attractions at leisure.
Afterwards, soar above the rainforest on the Skyrail Kuranda to Barron Falls loop, gliding over the canopy and stopping at scenic viewpoints including Barron Falls. At the conclusion of the Skyrail experience, a shuttle bus transfers you from the Smithfield Terminal as needed within the itinerary flow, followed by a bus transfer from Freshwater Railway Station back to Skyrail Smithfield, returning you conveniently to your vehicle.

- Park your car at Skyrail Smithfield (6 Skyrail Drive, Smithfield) for a 9.45am check-in
- Shuttle departs Skyrail Smithfield at 10am
- Skyrail Kuranda to Barron Falls Loop at 10.45am
- Free time in Kuranda Village
- Train departs Kuranda at 2.00pm
- Disembark Train at Freshwater Railway Station
- Bus transfer from Freshwater Railway Station to Skyrail Smithfield
- Skyrail Loop 12pm, Train 3.30pm:
- Park your car at Skyrail Smithfield (6 Skyrail Drive, Smithfield) for a 11am check-in
- Shuttle departs Skyrail Smithfield at 11:015m
- Skyrail Kuranda to Barron Falls Loop at 12pm
- Free time in Kuranda Village
- Train departs Kuranda at 3.30pm
- Disembark Train at Freshwater Railway Station
- Bus transfer from Freshwater Railway Station to Skyrail Smithfield
- Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your shuttle bus departure time (45 minutes prior to your Skyrail Loop boarding time)
- Morning and afternoon sessions available
- Skyrail loop departs at 10.45am and 12pm
- Train departs at 2pm and 3.30pm
- Operating Wednesday to Sunday, closed Monday and Tuesday.
- This is a half-day experience.
- This experience departs from 6 Skyrail Drive, Smithfield, QLD, 4870.
- Hotel transfers are not included; participants must make their own way to the departure point
- During busy periods, sharing of gondolas with other guests will be required
- Skyrail is a cash-free experience, including the Gift Shop and Cafe
- This experience is only available during Stage 1 of the Skyrail 2.0 Upgrade Project (19 August -25 October 2026)
- Change your booking up to 24 hours before the start time of your experience
- Changes are not permitted within 24 hours of your experience
- Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience
- You will receive a booking confirmation directly from Skyrail which will have your itinerary details. Please refer to this.
- Confirmation in the form of a tour voucher will be received at time of booking
- Upon completion of purchase, please print the voucher and present on day of the experience
