Cast a line on a morning half day estuary fishing charter through the waterways of Trinity Inlet in Cairns, where more than 100 kilometres of open water, creeks and deep channels wind through a protected State Marine Park. Your day begins early as you meet your experienced guide at the marina, then head out to gather live bait with a cast net before moving up into the estuary.
From there, your guide reads the tides and weather to find the best spots among the deep holes, mudflats, snags and drop offs that shelter so much marine life. Drop a line for barramundi, mangrove jack, fingermark, estuary cod, bream, queenfish and even giant mud crabs, with the mix of species changing through the seasons. Top quality rods and reels, bait and tackle are all provided, along with bottled water and a hot drink to keep you going. Whether you are a seasoned angler or casting for the first time, this is a relaxed and rewarding morning on some of tropical Queensland's richest fishing grounds.
